About Manchester NH

Located on both sides of the Merrimack River, Manchester?also known as the Queen City?is the largest city in northern New England. The roughly 110,000 residents of Manchester feel like royalty in their thriving community, which combines urban living with small town charm. Everything one needs is right in the city, from shopping to skiing, hiking to history and art to cultural attractions.

The Manchester Parks, Recreation and Cemetery Department manages more than 50 parks, three ice rinks, a golf course and a municipal ski area and offers recreation programs for all ages. Fishing is excellent at the city's ponds and hiking trails abound. The Mall of New Hampshire is in Manchester and the city's restaurants offer a vast array of fine food.

The Manchester School District oversees 14 elementary schools, one preschool, four middle schools, three high schools, and one school specializing in technology and science. There are eight universities in and around Manchester.

Manchester is also on the cutting edge of technology. FIRST, an innovative series of national programs that show America's youth the rewards of science and technology is headquartered in Manchester. The SEE Science Center features interactive exhibits and displays on topics as diverse as electricity and reptiles.

Manchester has reinvented itself from the mill town it once was in the early 1800s to a world-class city of culture and history, retaining the early Yankee values of hard work and being neighborly. Just one hour from Boston, the Seacoast, the White Mountains and the Lakes Region, Manchester is the center for art, business, technology, finance, education and outdoor fun. This is where "History Invites Opportunity!"
